As we’re heading toward the end of August, we have fall events on our mind. Mark your calendar for these hot events coming up.

10th Annual Chef Showdown

Thursday, September 18
This event, hosted by the Center for Community Solutions, will benefit their programs, including advocacy, legal support and services for survivors of domestic violence. Chefs Amy Dibiase from Tidal, Lori Sauer from George’s on the Cove and Jason McLeod from Ironside will be participating in the “Iron Chef”-style competition. Dîner en Blanc

Friday, September 19
Get your fancy white duds ready for this picnic sensation imported from Paris. It’s the third annual event for Dîner en Blanchosting more than 1,800 diners. Pack a basket with your favorite gourmet items and prepare to share while live music plays in the background. The location is revealed at the last minute. so be prepared for anything. San Diego Sriracha Festival

Saturday, September 20
Sriracha fever culminates in the inaugural Sriracha Festival at Liberty Station. This 21+ event will include dishes and desserts featuring Sriracha. Autumnal Equinox Dinner at Suzie’s Farm

Spirits of Mexico Festival

Sunday, September 28
Hundreds of tequilas, mezcals, Mexican wines and other spirits are available for sampling at the 11th Annual Spirits of Mexico Festival, held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds​. Celebrate the Craft

Sunday, October 12
Taste the best produce and craft beverages at the 12th Annual Celebrate the Craft at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Several producers, including Temecula’s Crows Pass Farms, Suzie’s Farm and Oakland’s Niman Ranch, will be at the event. Also scheduled is a farm-to-table menu by executive chef Jeff Jacon of The Lodge, Christian Graves of Jsix and Carl Schroeder of Market Restaurant. Tickets are $125 each and are available online

2014 Baja California Culinary Fest

October 29-November 2
The celebration of Baja food and wine has expanded from Tijuana to Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe for this year's Baja Culinary Fest. A few of the special guest chefs include Javier Plascencia, Miguel Angel Guerrero and Roberto Alcocer. In addition, special chef’s dinners, wine outings and workshops are spread throughout the five days. San Diego Beer Week

November 7-16
San Diego Beer Week returns for its sixth year. Breweries across the county will hosting beer dinners and tastings for this 10-day event. The full celebration includes a VIP Brewer Takeover benefiting the Surfrider Foundation, Fight ALD and San Diego Brewers Guild as well as a mountain-bike excursion. Tickets range from $35-$100. San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival

November 16-23
San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival is the city’s largest festival encompassing dinners, culinary classes and exhibits. The week-long festival ends Saturday with the Grand Tasting Event on the bay. Tickets range from $40 for a holiday dessert and port pairing to $1,560 for a package that includes tickets to tastings of your choice, gift bags and hotel accommodations.
