Food fads come and go, but if there’s one trend with proven staying power, it's bacon. The crispy strips can now be found in everything from sushi to waffles around town. But when nothing but full-on bacon will do, look no further than these three places that serve it up in style.

Bacon at S&M: Sausages & Meat

The menu at this University Heights eatery features the likes of elk, alligator and kangaroo, but pig also plays a big role. Select from bacon strips (pictured at the top) coated with sesame soy, honey Sriracha, mustard, hickory or their popular garlic-rosemary Parmesan. On the sweeter end of the spectrum, there's brown-sugar-coated bacon and two versions dipped in either chocolate or white chocolate with cashews, both served chilled.

Don’t let the name of the dish deceive you. Under the baked-on coating of brown sugar and paprika, thick-cut bacon awaits in every unctuous bite, melding sweet with savory in a way that all diners will appreciate. Available until noon, it’s worthy of a place next to any number of the restaurant’s other satisfying brunch options.

Bacon Plate at Regents Pizzeria

Headlining the menu at this UTC pizza joint are two styles of pizza (New York and Chicago), alongside one of the best beer selections in the county. But if you’re looking for something other than a slice of pie, their bacon plate will do you good. Cured with the restaurant’s secret rub, three thick-cut strips of bacon arrive with flame-blistered shishito peppers for a bit of spice.
