Downtown: The first of chef Giuseppe Ciuffa’s openings this season at Symphony Towers is Sonata Bistro on the first floor. Breakfast and lunch options include parfaits, tacos, soups and sandwiches for dine-in or take-out. 750 B St.

Downtown: Ciuffa's second operation is High Note Café, which just opened on the 12th floor of the Symphony Towers. Hours are 7 AM-4 PM for coffee and pastries. 750 B St.

Pacific Beach: Fuel up on vitamin-packed juices at The Mad Beet. Fruit and veggie concoctions named after music artists like “Green Latifah” headline the store’s menu. But also look for fruit bowls, coffee and smoothies. 4508 Cass. St. Ste. C

La Jolla: Beachgoers and La Jolla locals should gather at Shorehouse Kitchen for breakfast and lunch until 2:30 PM daily. Expect a variety of egg dishes including omelets, benedicts and frittatas along with coffee from Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. 2236 Avenida de La Playa

La Jolla: Popular breakfast joint Richard Walker’s Pancake House in downtown San Diego just opened a second outpost in La Jolla. The identical menu focuses on breakfast favorites like pancakes loaded with baked apples, chocolate chips or strawberries as well as sandwiches, salads and soups for lunch. 909 Prospect St.
