Brilliant or Crazy: Espresso-Spiked Coca-Cola

By Darlene Horn | February 26, 2014 By Darlene Horn  |  February 26, 2014

In honor of #CoffeeWeek, we delve into one of the more unusual coffee beverages San Diego has to offer: Vincent Vega. It’s been nearly 20 years since Quentin Tarantino’s classic Pulp Fiction saw the big screen. But its main character - played by John Travolta, who orders a Vanilla Coke - continues to have a life of his own at The Mission's three restaurant locations. According to a server, the Vincent Vega - a mixture of Coca-Cola, an espresso shot, Torani vanilla syrup and ice - has a lot of diehard fans. The carbonation from the soda combined with the strong coffee flavor can be surprising - especially if you've never had coffee soda. But the drink's subtle vanilla flavoring makes everything come together. Clearly caffeine-spiked caffeine isn't for everyone but the buzz you'll get from this drink is 100% guaranteed.

What's your verdict: brilliant or crazy? Would you drink an espresso-spiked Coke? Share your thoughts in the comments.
