4 New San Francisco Happy Hours

By Amy Copperman  |  August 20, 2015

You could make a full meal out of these new happy hours, ranging from French food on a budget to late-night South Indian eats.

  • Dosa

The Deal: $4–$9 South Indian snacks; $4–$8 drinks nightly Monday–Thursday, 9–11 PM; Friday and Saturday, 9 PM–midnight

Dosa is spicing up its late-night offerings with a new second happy hour at both the Fillmore and Valencia locations. Enjoy an extensive menu of shared plates such as Vada Pav vegetarian sliders, Idli fries that are rubbed in powdered lentils and spices, the pappadum and chutney sampler, summer vegetable pakora, among other bites. Reduced prices on beer and cocktails, including the Bengali Gimlet with Tanqueray Rangpur gin, curried nectar, and fresh lime are also on offer.

    Boxing Room

The Deal: Half-price high balls and snacks daily from 3 to 6 PM.

Thanks to its new liquor license, five new cocktails join the happy hour party at this New Orleans–inspired spot in Hayes Valley. Pair the drinks (or your choice of liquor and fountain topper) with the likes of $1 oysters and half-priced hush puppies, cajun-boiled peanuts, boudin balls, and pickles.

  • Hog and Rocks

The Deal: $15 chef's choice sausage and beer pairing 11 PM–1 AM.

Deal-seeking night owls, can we get a hoot? Hog and Rocks recently debuted a late-night happy hour menu, featuring a rotating sausage sandwich and beer pairing. Executive chef Robin Song kicked things off with an all-pork bratwurst topped with zucchini pepper slaw, plus a Flying Dog IPA, but expect an ever-changing selection ground, stuffed, cased and cooked entirely in-house.
