If you haven't crossed the bridge into Oakland lately, you're missing out on some great new flavors. Fuel up your FasTrak or Clipper card and set off on a new culinary adventure across the Bay, where you'll find magical ice cream, legit Mexican food, island vibes and more.

  • Cholita Linda

The East Bay farmer's-market favorite has settled into new permanent digs in Temescal, where tacos are two for $7 and the aguas frescas are hyperseasonal. There are also salads and sandwiches, with more to come as the restaurant moves out of a soft-opening phase.

A combination art gallery and merchant for local and rare craft spirits, Alchemy plans to host cocktail classes and seminars once it's fully up-and-running. For now, it's softly open.

Bistro Ordinaire at Ordinaire Wine Bar

As chef Christopher Kronner preps his first permanent location for Kronner Burger in Oakland, he's been cooking refined fare at the weekly Bistro Ordinaire pop-up series at Ordinaire Wine Bar on most Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 PM-10 PM. Expect dishes like Bolinas Dungeness crab soup with pickled ramps and chocolate clams with warm espelette vinaigrette, with prices around $8-$18.

After a successful run as a pop-up venture at Guerilla Cafe in Berkeley, Kingston 11 is now a full-fledged restaurant and rum bar. Look for traditional Jamaican dishes ($6-$19) like jerk chicken, oxtail stew and a curry-goat special on the weekends. The cocktails ($8-$11) are very well balanced.

The popular San Francisco parlor that offers made-to-order scoops created in about a minute, thanks to the magic of liquid nitrogen, has just opened a new shop in Rockridge this week. Look for the new sundaes and floats, items that are not available in SF.
