Venga Paella Takes Root in Jack London Square

Ten-year-old East Bay caterer Venga Paella has secured a brick and mortar location at 229 Brush Street in Oakland's Jack London Square. The menu's focus is on seafood, Prather Ranch pork and black squid paellas, but there's also the option to order smaller Spanish tapas such as tortilla espanola and goat cheese stuffed piquillo peppers. Venga has secured a permit to offer an international wine and craft beer list. The opening date of this 49-seat restaurant is still to be announced, but chef/owner Eduardo Balaguer hopes to be open in early to mid September.
