Weekend Planner: Bagels, Beers and CompetitionsBy Tamara Palmer | March 14, 2014 By Tamara Palmer | March 14, 2014
Get your St. Patrick's Day shenanigans started tonight at Taverna Aventine, where there will be Irish specials, food trucks and a gaggle of DJs spinning tunes from 4 PM-2 AM. RSVP to attend this free party.
The popular Eastside Bagels pop-up returns to Dear Mom with day-old bagels flown in from Russ and Daughters in New York. Last month's pop-up drew crazy lines. But with a new one-bagel-per-person limit, this time around shouldn't be nearly as bad. It starts at 11:30 AM and there are only 180 bagels (with various cream cheese schmears) to go around.
Compete in the first ever Kitchen Wars competition/cooking class at 6 PM at the San Francisco Cooking School: two teams compete against each other to make three courses from the Kokkari cookbook. Admission is $160; purchase here.
Another cooking competition to consider this weekend is the Culinary Clash at Luce, a dinner in which you sample dishes from Le Cordon Bleu students and vote on the week's winner. Seatings are available from 5:30-8:30 PM and the cost is $40 ($20 wine pairing).
