Where to Eat Brunch This Weekend
Handlebar-mustachio'd chef Joshua Wilder Oakley (pictured) brings his popular Tango & Stache pop-up to Mission bar Dear Mom for an à la carte brunch on September 7 from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This week's items include both omnivorous and vegetarian options, such as a bacon-stuffed buckwheat waffle club sandwich, a mushroom version of a Croque Madame and succotash tacos.
The third annual Sunday, Bloody Sunday Battle at Scala's Bistro takes place from noon to 2 PM on September 8. A $30 ticket includes tastes of this classic cocktail of alcoholic plasma as imagined by bartenders from hot bars such as Beretta, 15 Romolo, Rye and Novela along with tastes from the new brunch menu from the recently-installed executive chef Larry Finn.
And if you're going to be in the East Bay this weekend, here's a reminder that A16 Rockridge debuts brunch service from 11 AM to 2 PM on September 8. You'll be able to order crudos and pizzas that appear on the dinner menu and also consider new brunch-only items like Italian pastries (zeppole and sfogliatelle) and frittatas.
