Starbucks Continues Soda Testing, Trademarks "Fizzio"

By Kelly Dobkin  |  September 26, 2013

What do you call a soda at Starbucks? Fizzio, apparently. The gourmet coffee mega-chain has applied for a trademark on the term as it continues tests on a line of carbonated beverages. The name would be used for beverage-making machines (a Soda Stream competitor perhaps?) and a range of drinks including soft drinks. The chain is testing three new flavors at locations in Atlanta in Austin - Lemon Ale, Original Ginger Ale and Spiced Root Beer - giving customers the option to carbonate other drinks such as iced coffee and tea and no charge. So far the testing has proven successful and the company hopes to expand beyong just serving coffee, tea and its latest addition, juice. [NBC]
