Mata Petisco Bar
This new snack bar in the Parkdale district focuses on South American petisqueria (shared plates). Early reports indicate that the choripan (grilled chorizon on french baguette), ceviche, watermelon and tuna tartare, and baked escondidinho (mashed baked cassava with lobster) are highlights.
1690 Queen St W., 416-627-6460
The folks behind the hugely popular Playa Cabana Hacienda restaurant on Dupont have opened their latest, La Libre. The address is the same, La Libre's menu (different from Playa) will be served on the 100 seat outdoor patio space. The menu is Yucatán-themed and many items are cooked over charcoal. We hear the red-snapper cooked in banana leaves dish is a highlight.
