Wahlburgers Expands AbroadBy Scott Kearnan | August 28, 2013 By Scott Kearnan | August 28, 2013
Wahlburgers, the burger concept led by chef Paul Wahlberg and co-owned by his actor-singer brothers (and 40-something Boston hearthrobs) Mark and Donnie, is going international. Well, over the northern border, anyway: today the team announced it will open Wahlburgers Canada, a new location in Toronto's luxury SoHo Metropolitan hotel in early 2014. (A party celebrating the expansion will be held there on September 9.) Wahlberg says that the Toronto location will source ingredients from its own stable of local purveyors for menu items like the signature "Our Burger"; creative tweaks like the "Thanksgiving Burger," a turkey patty with orange cranberry sauce, roasted butternut squash and stuffing; and assorted sides. Like its stateside spot, Wahlburgers Canada will contain a sports bar (serving up alcoholic "adult frappes"), seated dining room and quick-service resto.
