A see-in bread kitchen with its artisanal display at the entrance of master baker/chef Mark Furstenberg’s Van Ness neighborhood bakery, cafe and market whets appetites for handcrafted, crusty loaves, pastries and Mediterranean-accented soups, salads, sandwiches and prepared dishes. Marble high-top tables hug the whitewashed brick wall, filled with rustic wood shelves of foodstuffs for sale and food photos, while a child’s corner adds to the community vibe. Opens at 8:30 AM.

Ferhat Yalcin replicates the grilled fish sandwiches sold in his native Istanbul, topping the catch with a "special Turkish sauce" accompanied by fries you "can't pass up"; the trendy Shaw addition to the College Park original boasts a handsome, industrial-mod setting with exposed brick and pale-wood accents. P.S. Beer and wine at both locations. Opens at 11:30 AM.

The Taylor Gourmet guys turn their talents to pizza, transforming their Atlas District cheesesteak-eria into a mecca for classic NY-style pies loaded with meatballs, pepperoni and other hearty stuff. The garagelike setting pays homage to old-timey body shops, with riveted, custom leather stools resembling motorcycle seats, bent iron butcher block tables and vintage flyers on the walls. They just started delivery too. Opens at 11 AM.

The upscale pub opened at the end of last year but just started lunch service a few weeks ago. Ample seating means little to no wait, and midday diners can expect hearty salads; stick-to-your-ribs dishes like shepherd's pie and macaroni and cheese; and great sandwiches, such as the Publican Reuben stuffed with house-brined corned beef. If you've been to other Ri Ra locations, note that this one puts much more effort into the dining options. Opens at 11:30 AM.
