Summer Restaurant Week runs from August 11-17 this year — and while it takes its fair share of knocks for not always being a good value and for restaurants serving subpar dishes, it remains a popular way for people to try a place that might be a bit outside the budget. This year, the deal is three lunch courses for $20.14 and three dinner courses for $35.14.

As you would expect, places that are normally tough to get into are even more impossible during Restaurant Week. Rasika and Rasika West End, for instance, are already booked up for lunch all week and aren’t participating in the deal for dinner. (They have saved some tables for walk-ins, however.) 2941 Restaurant also looks completely booked for dinner that week. Other restaurants’ time slots for the week already look picked over on OpenTable.

Of course, it never hurts to give any restaurant a call and see if they have something available. But here are five hot places that still have tables — although probably not for long — and where your Restaurant Week dollars will be well spent:

1.  AggioThis Chevy Chase newcomer inside Bryan Voltaggio’s Range is only open Wednesdays through Sundays, so space is already limited.

2.  Fiola: Offering the deal for both lunch and dinner, we know you'll get your money's worth at this Penn Quarter Italian spot.

3. KapnosWith its excellent reputation, hot 14th Street location and celebrity chef Mike Isabella’s name behind it, it’s no wonder the Restaurant Week options are dwindling fast.

4. Sushi TaroThis sushi favorite in Dupont Circle is already booked for dinner that week, but there are still plenty of lunch spots available.

5.  Zaytinya: José Andrés’ new spot, America Eats Tavern, seems to have plenty of reservations available, but this reliably delicious old-timer in Penn Quarter is running out of reservations.
