A lot of wear and tear can happen to a well-loved restaurant over the course of 15 years in business. In the case of Bistro Bis, restaurateur and chef Jeffrey Buben’s beloved French spot on Capitol Hill, the owners felt it was time for a refresher. It closed right after New Year’s Day and reopened yesterday better than ever.

Co-owner Sallie Buben says the renovation included new furniture, fresh paint in a new palette, changes to the light fixtures, new upholstering on the banquettes, a tin ceiling in some areas and a new host stand, among others. “Looks fresh and new!” she says (202-661-2700).
