Chef Named for Boulud's Upcoming NYC Export

- The Washington Post reports that Daniel Boulud's DBGB Kitchen and Bar at CityCenter is expected to open after Labor Day with chef Ed Scarpone, currently the executive sous chef at db Bistro in New York, heading the kitchen. Another chef announcement was revealed in Tom Sietsema’s chat today: Former 1789 chef Nathan Beauchamp has taken over the kitchen at Fainting Goat and intends to give the menu a complete overhaul.

- The Washington Post reports late yesterday that Hogo will finally close in early August. The report says it’s still unclear what will happen with The Passenger and Columbia Room, which are located on the same stretch of Seventh Street NW.

- Prince of Petworth posted a reader tip that a new Brookland restaurant and bar called Smith Public Trust held its soft opening last night and plans to open today with World Cup specials (3514 12th St. NE).
