- Ben’s Chili Bowl opened in the former Ray’s Hell Burger space at 1725 Wilson Blvd. today, with an appearance by actor Bill Cosby, who was on hand to cut the ribbon. It’s the first stand-alone branch for the beloved home of the DC half-smoke. The Arlington branch will first open from 11 AM-11 PM, adding breakfast down the line.
- Bethesda Now reports that Neighborhood Restaurant Group - the team behind such mega-hits as Birch & Barley and The Arsenal - will open a yet-to-be-named restaurant in the Pike & Rose development scheduled to open mid-2015 in North Bethesda. Other restaurants announced for that space include Del Frisco’s Grille, Protein Bar and Stella Barra Pizzeria.
- Washington City Paper reports that District restaurants can now make and sell their own spirits on premises or next door. The report outlines a few other changes to DC’s liquor laws, as well.
