Flight Wine Bar Opens Saturday

Penn Quarter gains a sleek, new wine bar this weekend with the opening of Flight, which will offer more than 30 wines by the glass and feature lesser-known varietals. The opening is only a few weeks past the projected December 2013 start date.

Co-owner Swati Bose studied at the Sommelier Society of America and the International Wine Center in New York City and has also worked as assistant cellar master at New York’s Balthazar, as a wine server and bartender at Ardesia and as an opening team member at Brooklyn Winery.

Chef Bradley Curtis - formerly of DGS Delicatessen, Zaytinya and Graffiato - has created a lineup of such seasonal dishes as glazed lamb chops with roasted chestnuts, apple and celeriac; a Boston baked dinner with half-smokes, baked beans and New England brown bread; and a pulled-duck sandwich with spiced cranberry reduction, Napa cabbage and fermented potatoes.

Flight will be open from 4-11:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and 4 PM-1 AM Friday and Saturday.
