Iron Gate Set to Open a Week from TodayBy Rina Rapuano | November 12, 2013 By Rina Rapuano | November 12, 2013
The date has been revealed for the much-anticipated Neighborhood Restaurant Group reopening of the long-running Iron Gate restaurant in Dupont Circle: the doors open next Tuesday. Heading up the kitchen is chef Anthony Chittum (pictured, left, with NRG co-owner Michael Babin), formerly of Vermilion in Old Town Alexandria.
The Washington Post reports that the historic carriage house will offer four- and six-course tasting menus that skew toward Italian and Greek cuisines as well as an a la carte list in certain sections of the restaurant. The Post also reports that whole animals will be spit roasted daily. The restaurant's sister operation - Bluejacket Brewery - created a saison spiked with Greek mastika liquor especially for Iron Gate.
