Late-Nite Eats for Halloween - and Beyond

Halloween usually brings about some late-night revelry, so we thought this would be the perfect time to round up a few places where night owls and party-goers can cap the night with something that could help ease the transition to morning. And while most restaurants serve food later on weekend nights, these places go the extra mile by offering delicious hot dishes at least until midnight every night they’re open. Here’s where you can tell your cabbie to go when it’s late and you’re starving.

  • The Diner
This classic diner in Adams Morgan is known for being open 24 hours a day - an uncommon occurrence in DC - as well as for its extensive menu. Pancakes for dinner? Monte Cristo for breakfast? Or just a slice of pie and a coffee at 3 AM? They’ve got you covered (202-232-8800).

  • The Coupe
Like its sister restaurant, The Diner, this Columbia Heights restaurant and coffee shop is open 24/7. Although the menu is shortened for early-morning hours, popular items include chicken and waffles, sriracha-glazed wings and a breakfast burrito with filled with scrambled eggs and chorizo. The coffee and cocktails hit the spot too (202-290-3342).

  • Honey Pig
With the latest opening in Germantown, there are now four places where Korean BBQ fans, graveyard-shift workers and hard-core partiers can go for a satisfying meal (Annandale, VA, 703-256-5229; Centreville, VA, 703-830-5959; Ellicott City, MD, 410-696-2426; Germantown, MD, 301-972-2436).

  • Mandu
This Korean spot’s K Street NW location goes into fusion mode for late-night dining, when dumplings, Korean BBQ tacos and kimchi quesadillas are available. The snacks, which are only available at the bar, are exclusive to the late-night menu available from 11 PM-1 AM Tuesdays through Saturdays and 10 PM-12 AM Sundays and Mondays (202-289-6899).

  • The Passenger
This hipster haunt near Mt. Vernon Square serves a late-night menu up until a half hour before last call. Offerings include the well-known kimchi hot dog, pork-cheek-chili nachos, a vegetarian flatbread with wild mushrooms and snacks like local beef jerky. They can all be had until midnight Sundays; until 1:30 AM Mondays through Thursdays; and until 2:30 Fridays and Saturdays (202-393-0220).
