Chef Robert Wiedmaier's flagship fine dining room, Marcel’s, has a stunning new lounge area that skews much more modern than its previous look. The lounge was closed from the end of August through September 5 for the major changes, with the finishing touches completed as of this month. Check out these before and after photos to get an idea of just how much the room has improved with the bright and beautiful changes (202-296-1166).

Here is the space's new look, complete with white-leather covered barstools and chairs contrasting nicely with the dark wood. There is also new carpeting, and the cabinets displaying Marcel's crystal have been replaced with open glass shelving against a mirrored background.

  • The piano is now gone.
