Out to Lunch: Soupergirl in Dupont Circle

By Rina Rapuano  |  September 9, 2014

With a snap of her fickle fingers, Mother Nature has once again flipped the switch from summer to fall. (Don’t worry. We’re fully aware that she’s likely so flip it back again at least a few more times.) But for now, we’re enjoying some crisp autumnal weather — and that makes us think of soup. Enter Soupergirl, one of our favorite ways to warm up on a chilly day. And with the new Dupont Circle location that opened this spring, it’s even easier to lunch-shame your co-workers with the healthiest lunch imaginable.

Perfect for: A post-workout lunch, when all those promises you made during the 30-minute mark on the elliptical still feel fresh and doable.
Dish You’ll Gush Over: Well, the soup. Just keep asking the nice people behind the counter for samples till you find the one that reveals itself to be your spirit soup. Our most recent favorite was pureed beet-ginger number.
What to Drink: Water. Why waste the virtuous feeling on a sugary juice or tea?
Best Seat: There’s a counter in the bay window where you can sort of eat and lean, but there aren’t any proper seats here. Head back toward Connecticut Avenue NW for a park-bench lunch.
Good to Know: Every single soup is vegan and kosher, plus there are wonderful salads made of greens and grains (and petit baguettes if you're worried about being hungry in an hour).
