In anticipation of Ris at Union Market, an offshoot of Ris that's scheduled to officially open mid-December, chef Ris Lacoste will operate a pop-up stall there for a yet-to-be-determined period - but at least through the end of the month, according to a rep.
The pop-up will sell kitchen staples like tomato sauce, champagne vinaigrette, chicken stock and seasonal baked goods, such as cranberry-orange bread, pies and chocolate macaroons. On the two days leading up to Thanksgiving, the stall will expand to include pints ($8) and quarts ($15) of holiday sides, including stuffing, collards, gravy and cranberry sauce. Pumpkin, apple and pecan pies will be sold for $18 apiece.
The temporary shop will operate during lunch hours, from 11 AM till about 2 PM weekdays, possibly staying open later on weekends. Fans of the chef’s cooking can keep tabs on the pop-up through its separate Facebook and Twitter accounts, or by calling the main restaurant (202-730-2500).
When the full-blown Ris at Union Market is up and running, dishes like stews, salads and nutritious foods for kids will also be available.
