STK Opening in Dupont, WTF's Fried Chicken Special & Boozy Bocce at Vinoteca

- Much-mooted fem-friendly steakhouse STK opens Friday in the Dupont Circle space once inhabited by Casa Nonna. Executive chef Marc Hennessy - a veteran of several BLT locations around the globe - is overseeing a menu that includes plenty of steak (duh!), which is offered in small, medium or large portions. Additionally, there will be items such as shrimp rice krispies (which sounds like a Japanese breakfast special), foie gras French toast (we see a trend here - a similar dish appears on the menu at Rose’s Luxury and City Tap House) and Parmesan truffle fries (1250 Connecticut Ave. NW; 202296-1880).

- Fried chicken fans rejoice! Woodward Takeout Food has brought back their Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner special ($11.95), which, ironically, is only available at lunchtime. Fowl fans get three pieces of fried chicken, a buttermilk biscuit and their choice of one side, which might include mac ’n’ cheese, collard greens, jalapeño coleslaw, french fries, potato salad or hearth-roasted broccoli (1426 H Street NW; 202-347-5355).

- The front patio and backyard plaza at Vinoteca are now open. That means bocce under the stars and grilled goodies galore. Chef Lonnie “The Wiener Wunderkind” Zoeller turns out housemade hot dogs, like a boudin pork dog that’s topped with remoulade and grilled red onions and a chicken dog dressed with barbecue sauce, cheddar and apple. Plus there will be three handcrafted burgers - beef, pork and portobello mushroom. Wash it all down with sangria and springy cocktails. Because bocce is always better when you’re buzzed (1940 11th St. NW; 202-332-9463).
