The Central Burger: A DC Institution

By Rina Rapuano | October 25, 2013 By Rina Rapuano  |  October 25, 2013

We thought we’d finish out Burger Week with an ode to one the very best burgers in town: the masterpiece found at Central Michel Richard.

Leave it to Richard, DC’s beloved French chef who famously loves junk food, to take the all-American burger and turn it up to an 11. This burger has made waves in town since Central Michel Richard opened in 2007, and it continues to be a best-seller on the bistro’s roster of excellent upscale takes on traditionally low-brow dishes.

Working from the bottom up, the stack has a base of tomato confit topped by beef of outstanding quality topped with crunchy potato tuiles (Richard loves crunch). Add bacon and cheddar, and you’ve got one of the finest burger combos you can imagine.

It’s so good, even the $18 price tag can’t deter us (202-626-0015).
