Weekly Planner: Turkey (and Some Other Stuff)

Legal Sea Foods’ three area locations celebrate the running of red snapper with a special menu showcasing three snapper dishes. An appetizer of sesame snapper toasts, a lunch entree of red snapper and shrimp enchiladas and a dinner entree of pan-seared snapper with crab salsa verde, red rice and beans will be available through December 18 (Penn Quarter, 202-347-0007; Crystal City, 703-415-1200; Tysons Galleria, 703-827-8900). 


FreshFarm Markets hosts its final two Thanksgiving food drives this week, with one in Crystal City Tuesday and one in Foggy Bottom Wednesday, both from 3-7 PM. Food from the market farmers and monetary donations from shoppers will go toward the Arlington Food Assistance Center at Crystal City, while the Foggy Bottom donations will benefit Miriam’s Kitchen. This week also marks the final markets of the year in those locations.

Table begins a weekly series called Tasting Tuesdays, when chef de cuisine Patrick Robinson or chef Frederik De Pue will share items created during the chefs’ recipe-testing sessions. The seven-course dinner costs $95 per person ($140 with wine pairings) and is offered only at the four chef's table seats. Dishes could include fluke sashimi with hearts of palm and a soy-yuzu vinaigrette, octopus poached in olive oil with potatoes and balsamic or brûléed rice pudding with matcha mochi cake, guava sorbet and a sesame tuile (202-588-5200).


Et Voila! hosts a “Stretch Your Belly” party from 5-10 PM, when guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat Blue Bay mussels, Belgian fries and Blanche de Bruxelles Belgian white for $29.95 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Mussels can be ordered sauced with garlic and white wine; coconut milk, curry, shallots and lemongrass; tomatoes, shallots and lobster bisque; and tomatoes, shallots, garlic and saffron (202-237-2300).

Evening Star Café’s Majestic Lounge throws its annual Thanksgiving Eve event with Heavy Seas Beer by tapping a wooden cask of Loose Cannon IPA flavored with soft maple wood chips and Northern Brewer hops. Beginning at 6 PM, guests can draw hand turkeys and also enjoy kegs of Heavy Season Winter Storm Imperial ESB. Live music starts at 8 PM upstairs (703-549-5051).

If you haven’t yet made plans for Thanksgiving Day, here are some places that still have reservations available:

Brasserie Beck offers an a la carte, European-influenced Thanksgiving feast from noon to 9 PM (202-408-1717).

Plume serves a Thanksgiving-inspired tasting menu from 11:30 AM-8:30 PM for $95 per adult and $45 per child 12 and younger (202-448-2300).

Charlie Palmer Steak presents a three-course prix fixe menu with many choices from 2-8 PM for $70 per person, $25 for children (202-547-8100).

J&G Steakhouse serves a three-course $55 Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 8 PM (202-661-2440).

Al Dente offers a four-course Italian-style Thanksgiving lunch ($42) from 11:30 AM-4 PM, as well as a special student lunch during the same time, when a three-course meal goes for $25 when a student ID is flashed. Dinner ($35) is served from 4:30-8 PM (202-244-2223).

Spirit of Washington runs a holiday buffet lunch cruise with a DJ from 11:30 AM-2 PM, ranging in price from $54.90 per adult, $24.95 per children ages 3-12 (866-302-2469).

Café Dupont serves family-style Thanksgiving fare from 11:30 AM-10 PM (202-797-0169).

Casa Luca (202-628-1099) and Fiola (202-628-2888) are still accepting reservations for Thanksgiving meals.
