Whether you’ve got Thanksgiving guests to feed, a day of hardcore shopping to fortify yourself for or just want to celebrate having a bonus day off, here are a few places that are thankfully serving brunch on Black Friday.
Sister restaurants B Too (202-627-2800) and Belga Café (202-544-0100) will begin serving brunch Friday at 10 AM. In addition to the usual offerings, there will be a few fun Thanksgiving-themed specials like a stuffing waffle, a pumpkin waffle and a turkey waffle.
Bayou Bakery offers $1 coffees on Black Friday from 7-9 AM, and breakfast hours are extended noon that day. Lunch will immediately follow (703-243-2410).
Boqueria serves its unlimited brunch tapas, drinks and sweets for $39 from 10:30 AM-2 PM Friday, with the menu running from pancakes to empanadas to lamb meatballs to churros. Drinks include sangrias, mimosas and beer (202-558-9545).
All Cafe Deluxe locations serve their regular brunch dishes from 10 AM-3 PM Friday, with traditional items like crab benedict, omelets and pancakes on the menu (Cleveland Park, 202-686-2233; Bethesda, 301-656-3131; Tysons Corner, 703-761-0600; Gaithersburg, 240-403-7082).
Jackson 20’s Black Friday brunch runs from 7 AM-2:30 PM, when dishes like a ham-and-cheese omelet and the J20 bacon-cheeseburger are available. Bonus: The Old Town restaurant serves hot cocktails like 2 Sins, which is made with rum, butterscotch and dulce de leche foam (703-842-2790).
All three Jaleo locations will serve their regular brunch tapas menus the day after Thanksgiving from 11:30 AM-3 PM. Menu items include poached eggs on brioche with spinach, ham and cheese as well as sweet Spanish toast with apple compote topped with housemade vanilla ice cream. Brunch cocktails include a Bloody Gazpacho (Penn Quarter, 202-628-7949; Bethesda, 301-913-0003; Crystal City, 703-413-8181).
Maple Ave Restaurant in Vienna serves brunch from 10 PM-2 PM Friday, with dishes like scrambled eggs with Chinese sausage and caramelized kimchi, a venison omelet and pumpkin buttermilk pancakes on offer (703-319-2177).
Matchbox in Merrifield serves brunch from 10 AM-3 PM Black Friday, including a brunch pizza topped with sausage and and scrambled eggs as well as a burger with fried egg, Bloody Mary mayo and cheese. Cast iron pans of cinnamon rolls are also available (571-395-4869).
Oyamel in Penn Quarter serves brunch from 11:30 AM-3 PM, when guests can choose dishes like ceviches and tacos from the à la carte menu. Traditional Mexican offerings like fried eggs with black bean sauce and chorizo and duck confit gorditas (202-628-1005).
Pearl Dive Oyster Palace serves its regular brunch menu from 11 AM-3 PM Friday (a great reminder that they serve brunch every Friday). We recommend the CBELT po’ boy topped with fried catfish, egg, bacon, lettuce and tomato, and the Pontchartrain, a plate of two poached eggs, English muffin, blue crab, tasso ham, crawfish and cayenne hollandaise. There will also be $4 grapefruit and orange mimosas (202-319-1612).
Range's Black Friday brunch is more like breakfast, starting at 8 AM to serve the Friendship Heights shoppers. Dishes include a ciabatta breakfast sandwich with egg and ham, as well as cured salmon on challah. Full barista service will be available to-go for holiday bargain hunters in a hurry (202-803-8020).
Tortilla Coast Capitol Hill serves brunch Friday from 11 AM-3 PM, while the Logan Circle brunch runs from 11:30 AM-3 PM. You’ve already eaten your weight in turkey and stuffing, so you might as well try the Cap’n Crunch French toast at the Capitol Hill location - or the corn-flake version at Logan Circle (Capitol Hill, 202-546-6768; Logan Circle, 202-629-3280).
Zaytinya serves its Greek, Turkish and Lebanese mezze brunch from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM Friday, including Turkish pancakes with apricots, candied walnuts, yogurt and honey, as well as fried eggs with sausage, potato, cilantro and aleppo pepper. Wash them down with Turkish coffee to brace yourself for a day of shopping (202-638-0800).
