Where to Find Chick-fil-A Knockoffs Around DCBy Rina Rapuano | March 4, 2014 By Rina Rapuano | March 4, 2014
Regardless of how you feel about Chick-fil-A, the fact remains that the Southern-fried fast-food spot does make a darn tasty sandwich - and there aren’t many places to find it in our urban area. Thankfully, a few local restaurants have picked up on our near-universal love of marrying pickles and fried chicken. Here are three places where that love is accepted, embraced and legally recognized:
Right Proper Brewing Co.
The Sandwich: Southern-Fried Chick Filet
Tasting Notes: This version is dressed up with Boursin cheese and pickles, all served on a brioche bun.
624 T St. NW; 202-607-2337
The Dish: Pickle-brined fried chicken nuggets
Tasting Notes: Okay, it’s not a sandwich - but the pickle brine definitely gives it that Chick-fil-A taste - all tossed with honey and benne seeds.
717 Eighth St. SE; 202-580-8889
WTF (Woodward Takeout Food)
The Sandwich: Chick Chick
Tasting Notes: Fried chicken breast, bread-and-butter pickles, bacon, Boston lettuce, cranberry relish and mayonnaise on a toasted bun.
