Sushi purists " and " even the gun-shy " " can't help " getting " hooked " on the " insanely fresh ", " melt-in-your-mouth " fish paired with " warm, sweet rice " at master chef Kazunori Nozawa's " game-changing " Japanese chain; no reservations and " long waits can be a deterrent ", and once inside the " simple " wood-bedecked setting the " efficient " staff " rushes you out the door ", but it's " consistently a winner " for " value and quality "; P.S. the 'Trust Me' omakase " is the recommended move.

A dose of "old-fashioned goodness" , this circa-1908 Downtown "classic" "feels like a trip back in time" with "fair" French dips made with beef and lamb served in an "atmospheric" setting; critics claim it's "expensive" and "used to be better" , so its biggest asset may be the hidden speakeasy in back – The Varnish – known for its crafty mixologists, "designer" cocktails and "hipster" crowd.

Called the original for good reason ", this " steady "-Eddie 1908 " institution " in Chinatown is " famous " for inventing the " simple ", " satisfying " French dip sandwich, which it still churns out with " unwavering quality " at a " nostalgic " price; " old-school pros " " behind the counter " keep the " cafeteria lines " moving in a " sawdust-strewn " setting where " people from every walk of life " " sit with new best friends at communal tables " – in all, an " LA treasure" if there ever was one.

“Adventurous” eaters will be “pushed out of their comfort zones” by the “transcendent pastas” and “innovative” nose-to-tail Italiana from husband-and-wife “star chefs” Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis, who oversee an “energetic” staff at this “buzzy,” “industrial-chic” “warehouse” in DTLA's Arts District; everything is “off the charts,” including the “jet-engine noise,” but word is it's still “the hottest ticket in town” so reservations (and deep pockets) “are a must.”

“Always packed” , this “buzzy” , no-reservations Downtown "gem" stays "trendy" with “authentic NYC-style" pizzas and other “fab” , "reasonably priced" Italian fare, plus a “phenomenal” selection of sweets and “edible gifts” at the pastry counter; "jet engine" noise levels are “problematic” , but that's to be expected with “soaring” ceilings, an "energetic" staff and a “Manhattany” vibe.
