A “homely atmosphere” pervades this circa-1583 Limehouse pub that was already a veteran when Dickens wrote of it in Our Mutual Friend, and is now part-owned by actor Ian McKellen; it's “not the biggest of places”, but it has a “good selection” of beers, a “friendly” staff and a “small” terrace with “brilliant” river views.
