A 3 star ratting for the overall experience. I was disappointed as expected a fine dining ambiance. The sashimi was good not outstanding ,however the energy was nervous, and anxious and the pressure to turn over tables was palpable. Although the staff was polite , it felt rushed throughout the dinner and for the price and reputation one would expect a more relaxed experience. Unless perhaps one is to sit at the bar, the “fine dining” felt like an average high volume restaurant. Especially in NYC where the choices are abundant in fine Japanese cuisine, I would not return.

Food and service have always been top notch, this review is a result of their reservation approach. I booked two months out for v-day as their book opened, and quickly booked up. Website had no mention of pre-fixe. I was called a day ahead to ask for a credit card to process a charge for a little over 400 for two to cover dinner, a six course meal, not including booze - ahead of time. I don't want that much food on valentine day... Nor do I want to spend 600 on a Wednesday (with wine/sake). So I cancelled and was left to try to find a suitable reservation a day in advance of valentines day - not an ideal situation. A little up front communication could have avoided this situation. I see they now have a bunch of availability one day out so it's probably fair to assume I'm not the only one impacted by this. Shoddy business practice for the hospitality industry. Amounts to a high pressure sales tactic.

Great sushi experience with a chef preparing food right in front of you at the bar. Would recommend for sushi lovers to try at least once!
