Chic sushi bar & Japanese fare
Japanese · Union Square · $$$
The Zagat Review
“Inventive” preparations and “top-quality” fish result in “sublime” sushi at this “classy” Union Square Japanese also known for its wide sake selection; “personable” service and a “serene” , “minimalist” setting up its appeal for “adult dinners” , though the tabs have some saving it for “big occasions.”

Not coming back. The first time I came a year ago it was super tasty but I can't even begin to describe how awful it was this time. The food was average. Legitimately every dish is average. For the price there is an infinite number of alternative options that are better value. The first dish came out after 45 minutes. The server attempted to make a joke about the food being late by blaming my friend for causing the lateness since he's gluten intolerant. The joke fell flat primarily because we were all curled up in a ball dying of starvation because it took so long for the dish to arrive. One dish after the next, under delivered. Why? Because the fish was average. You can't serve sushi without having quality fish that's treated correctly. When you see the Michelin star on entrance upon walking in remember that this was representative of days of yore. 2015. If you are reading this it's likely after 2018 which means it has likely gotten worse. It's similar to our experience where as the evening continued our desire to leave increased. Long story long, never come here. P.s. The photo tastes way worse than it looks, kind of like Tinder.

Good sushi in a very intimate setting. Sit at the bar to see the chefs in action. Quite pricey but good experience overall. Reservations recommended as there are very few tables.

Sublime. Try their Omakase menu, pair them with sake, and prepare for a bonne degustation. Oh, and the Macaron they offer from their sister French restaurant is a sweet touch to end your meal
