The Zagat Review
Experience "Paris in San Francisco" at this Hayes Valley French-Med brasserie where the "charming" dining room serves as a "romantic" backdrop for "varied, flavorful" fare "prepared to perfection" ; "standout" cocktails, an "impressive" wine list and "expert" service draw a crowd ranging from "young hipsters" to "Civic Center" attendees.

We were seated quickly based on our open table reservation (took about 5 minutes). Their drinks were absolutely delicious as we tried their tequila, old fashioned, and absinthe. The service was professional and courteous. They also alerted us that we were reaching a drink maximum, so they professionally cut off our alcohol content early on. As for the food, I was impressed. I've been there for brunch and loved it. For dinner, I ordered the monk fish and also chicken. Both were amazing - not much to go wrong with. Highly recommended venue for a date or for a business meeting/dinner.

The food was quite tasty although they don't have a tremendous amount of options for vegetarians. We mostly ended up eating snacks and sides which was okay with me. Fabulous cocktails. Fun environment. Was looking for more quiet conversation and romance which was not the scene at 10:30 on a Friday night. I would return but with a group of girlfriends, not my wife.

My fiance and I had our first date here. We got engaged here. And we recently celebrated our anniversary here! Absinthe will always have a special place in our hearts and we thoroughly enjoy our visits each time! Absolutely love the little booths they have. The food is also always stellar! All in all a good time! Check out their caviar canapes. Had them during brunch! Caviar on a tater tot, which they call a potato pancake. Genius.
