Alba Ray's
Chic Cajun bistro with cocktails & wine
Cajun · The Mission · $$
From the Popson’s and Causwells crew comes this chic Mission Cajun spot offering New Orleans classics (think crispy boudin balls, Creole barbecue shrimp and jambalaya) plus late-night bar snacks and a playful drink list. The design takes a cue from the city as well, with fleur-de-lis art, ornate metalwork and bold tiles.

Excellent! The prawns and rabbit sausage are a must. If you are looking for a quiet place to talk, this is not it. The bar and dining area are both lively and loud. I would definitely come back to try more dishes.

I love going to Alba Ray's. The food is consistent and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Let's be honest, I just go there to hangout with the bartenders and drink. They make it a great time! I just wish the kitchen would work on timing when meals come out. All too often, I get my dish while whomever I am with sits there waiting for at least 10 - 15 minutes.

Perfect vibe with a kitchen that will knock your socks off. Do get the green salad with lentils. Legit. Also must get the blackeyed peas with kale side and of course, the jambalaya. Don't save room for desert.. Ha! Forget I said that - even if you're stuffed, order up some house made beignets with caramel sauce and add some vanilla ice cream. Plan to share with friends and then tell them to get their own after your first bite. I'm not kidding. Do this. Need wine to go with you meal? Didier (Pronounced 'D-D-A') is a freaking all-star server and will set you up with a great pairing. Or get your happy hour on and come early to eat at the bar + enjoy cocktails with Ryan the bar manager. Makes some mean drinks. I haven't tried the brunch here yet, but after looking at the menu I might be changing my weekend plans and coming back. Again 😄
