"How do you say 'wow' in Japanese?" wonder "discriminating" diners smitten by these "luxe" steakhouses with "creative Asian" "overtones" , where beef that "melts in your mouth" "like butter" and the signature hamachi shots ( "a must" ) are presented alongside "fantastic" wines and "rare" spirits; if you're not a "software mogul" , you're looking at a "splurge" , but "everything is top-drawer" , right down to "spectacular service" that waits on you "hand and foot" and brings complimentary "cotton candy upon departure."

Dined there on 11/7. The negative: my $65 medium-rare steak came out cold. The plate supposed to be hot, but it wasn't - another sign that it sat around way too much before being brought over. My companion ordered something called "rib," cooked for 12 hours. The waiter kept saying that the cut came from the rib area, while the lady that brought it over said it was a shoulder cut. It looked like a loin, not a rib. Everything else was nice: appetizers, wine list, cocktails, service. But they failed the basics of a steakhouse. A high priced one, nevertheless.

Alexander's is a place where you definitely get what you pay for. The service is almost as incredible as the food. The dry aged bine-in New York I ordered was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life and it's their medium priced steak.

Great ambience and great staff. However the food was not as good as I was expecting to be. The Hamachi shots were too big if a size for an appetizer and the steak was dry and no flavor which was supposed to be the main factor if this whole event of going to an steak house with so many good reviews. One thing for sure I will not be going to Alexander's for steak
