"Everything is made with care and attention to detail" at this Mission Californian from Daniel Patterson and chef Brett Cooper, whose "dazzling" seasonal plates are accompanied by "excellent" wines in a "close-knit setting" with booths and communal seating; some find the portions "a bit too small" for the "upscale" tabs, though "foodies" feel the tasting menu is "well worth the money."

Loved everything about this place. From the ambiance, to the decor, to the food, to the service, everything was top notch. Could not recommend it more.

The food is wonderful, even though the portions are small. I always leave there having feel like I spent too much for what I was served.

We loved the food at Aster! Most reasonably priced tasting menu I've ever had, considering the quality. We ate at Quince the following night and if we could do it over we would have eaten at Aster twice and skipped Quince. I must say the service was a little disappointing. The servers just dropped off plates without really saying anything. The wine pairing was very reasonably priced so no complaints there but if they're going to offer wine pairings then the staff should be better educated on the wines being poured. They have to do more than just read the label. But overall I would definitely recommend going to Aster.
