The Zagat Review
“Perfect for a guys’ night out” , this “throwback” Midtown chophouse stays “true to form” with “substantial” , “butter-tender” steaks served “like a well-oiled machine” ; while “not cheap” , it earns a “thumbs-up” as a “dependable” pick.

This place is beyond amazing. Stepping through the doors that double as a portal into steak heaven, you end up leaving the bustle of New York City behind. The decor here is wonderful. They provide bread & butter as per most places before a meal. I'm not quite sure what type of loafs these were, but they were soft & great, especially once buttered a bit. I ordered the Prime New York Sirloin Steak, with Mac & Cheese. I also got the peppercorn sauce. From looking at their menu, it looks like all of their steak is dry aged. As such, I was ready for an amazing time. I was unable to finish the Mac & Cheese, as the serving size was for a family of five or so & I was by myself. The Mac & Cheese was good, but that's not what you're here for! The experience of getting my steak to the table, has thus far, not been matched. Prior to arrival, they removed my plate & brought a new, plate for myself that was essentially pre-heated to some unknown temperature. The bringing out of the steak itself, the steak & the juices around it were still sizzling. The char on this steak is thick & delicious. I've never had charring this amazing. You would think that there would be some gristle left over or issues with chewing steak like this -- but the steak was tender, juicy & flavorful. I finished off the entire steak, with copious dabbing of the peppercorn sauce. This peppercorn sauce was unexpected & wonderful. The flavor explosion in your mouth rivals anything you've tried at this point in your life. It seems to be made entirely from scratch. I had enough left over, that after devouring the steak (not an easy task for the weak willed) -- I finished off what was left with the leftover bread I kept on the table. I was sure to tip extra, as, I really enjoyed my experience here (thinking back, it probably did help that I was one of three or four people there at 4PM...). The waiter (Tim, Timothy, I think?) was a top notch gentleman - I watched him help an older woman with her purse & jacket without breaking. What a human. I think, when this was all said & done, the meal was $75. Which, yes, is a little steep by ~$20 or so. If I had gotten no side dish & only had water, it would've been a little cheaper. But it was worth every penny. The steak alone is ~$50 As an added bonus, the Museum of Sex is about half a block away -- so you can have several amazing things in one day: Steak, Sex & Success.

I usually don't write reviews but when a place makes me feel beyond special, it's a must. Dined on Friday night and everyone from the hostess to the manager made us feel comfortable. We were thinking of ordering off the restaurant week menu but the waiter recommended the porterhouse for 2. Oh boy was he right! The steak was perfectly cooked and had a mesmerizing aroma. The cream spinach and mac was perfect! Not too salty and full of flavor. Phenomenal services, great food, well crafted wine list, and friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back and recommending to my friends.

As a steak lover, I have been coming here for years on Fifth Avenue, and never left here disappointed!! I can't even say the steak was just alright...EVER! The consistency is just downright unbelievable and amazing!!! The attentive staff are friendly and fast!! The kitchen serves only the best cuts and prepares each dish with great care.
