The Bromberg brothers “consistently get it right” at these “beloved” New Americans where “down-home” cooking ( “wonderful” matzo ball soup, “ballin’” fried chicken) make for “comfort-food heaven” ; the original SoHo “standby” is a late-night “haunt for off-duty chefs” , while the Bakery Kitchen has “intoxicating” smells of baking bread, and though they're not inexpensive, they remain “perennial favorites.”

Not what it used to be. I have been frequenting this place for over ten years and it used to be one of my favorite places to eat. However the menu options have steadily deteriorated and so has the food quality. First the tablecloths disappeared, then the menu changed and shrank. Now even the bread pudding has become bland. This place is coasting now. The passion is gone. They need to reinvent.

Went here looking for a steakhouse only to find it's really more of a surf-and-turf spot. It has lots of seafood options but only a single steak option. The oysters were great although, definitely on the expensive side. When you go, ask to be in Tims we section as he is the best waiter ever!
