The "exotic flavors of Burma" are showcased at this "destination" chainlet where the seemingly "flown-in-from-Rangoon" offerings are both "flavorful" and "inexpensive" (the "sublime" tea-leaf salad is a "must-order" item); given its "ridiculously popular" status, expect "ever-present" lines, but those who "believe the hype" are willing to "endure the wait."

CONS: The wait is the worst part about this place. We waited close to 2 hours before being seated. It is cramped and small and our seat was next to the pick up order line. So, that sucked. PROS: The service was great and the food was excellent. There's no better way to express it. The wait was worth it.

First time having Burmese food and I'm already thinking of going back before leaving. Started with the (legendary) tea leaf salad and was blown away with all the flavor and texture of the nuts (sunflower, sesame, peanuts, lentils). Hands down the best salad 🥗 I've ever had ! Follow by superstar noodle salad and fiery beef 🌶 with coconut rice which was sweet and coconuty fragrant!!! I could just eat a bowl of the rice alone - regular white rice 🍚 will never be the same! I totally understand why it is one of the most highest rated restaurant in SF and featured on the food network. Totally worth the wait!

The service was great and they handled the hordes of eager prospective diners gracefully and politely, the food also arrived very fast. The food itself however was not all that great. It was ok but not great. Certainly not worth all the hype. And, to top it off, today I am down with food poisoning. I can't be certain of course that it's them but they are the most likely culprits based on timing and other factors. So sad.
