Former Nobu chef Toshio Tomita composes high-end tasting menus at this East Village Japanese where the fish is overnighted from Tokyo, the soba is made in house, and sushi and sashimi are offered as supplements. The subterranean setting (formerly Kajitsu) may be unassuming, but the premium pricing is anything but.

I just ate here for the first time tonight. I normally am not much of a sushi person (my roommate friend pointed the place out so i gave it a shot), however this place has a very skilled chef with a very keen eye for the fish he selects. The food was incredible! The atmosphere was relaxing and wonderful. The staff were great! I have nothing bad to say about this place. I highly recommend it if you have some money to spend.

Love this place! Amazing omakase with interesting selection of fishes and flavor combinations. They are very fresh and delicious especially the uni.

The sushi was amazing and I don't like sushi. I do go to numerous sushi restaurants due to clients and friends. Hands down the one of the best experiences I've ever had. Service was excellent. Was helpful with requests and questions. Only regret was sitting at the table instead of the bar. But was a party of four. The advantage was we were able to order both types of Omakase tasting menus available at the time 😊😊😊
