Clancy's Restaurant
Classy neighborhood spot for Creole fare
Creole · Audubon · $$$
The Zagat Review
This Audubon neighborhood "tradition" boasts "terrific" "contemporary" Creole cooking and "strong drinks" from the "well-stocked bar" , making it a "favorite of locals" who admit it's "not cheap" but agree "you get what you pay for" ; the "clubby" , whitewashed main floor can be "energetic" (read: "loud" ) while upstairs is "quiet" – either way, its "unpretentious" atmosphere makes folks "feel at home on the first visit."

I heard that Clancy’s had the best soft shell crab in town and biked for about half an hour to get here since it is on the other side of where I was staying. This is a fancy restaurant that is very busy even on a week night. Luckily, they allowed us to dine at the bar even though we were in casual attire. The bar area also filled up quickly with other people eating and drinking. Unbeknownst to me, soft shell crab season is from April to October and they were recently taken off the menu. It was a sad moment. I really didn’t have a backup plan, but it seems you can’t go wrong with the food here. The food menu was handwritten in cursive and is very difficult to read. Scallop Appetizer $20 – The 2 giant scallops were perfectly cooked and served with sauce that I want to lick every drop of. Crab Salad $23 – Delicious crab meat.

A wonderful dining experience, great bartenders and wait staff. They know the food and do a really good job. Awesome presentation, classic cooking, and don't forget to save room for dessert!

Deviled eggs with remoulade sauce on top so delicious, I order it every time I go. Turtle soup is also outstanding. And Garth on Monday nights is excellent too.
