“Homesick Parisians” feel at home at these “debonair” brasseries where “simple, tasty” standards come at “reasonable” prices; the West 50s original is “convenient to Carnegie Hall” and City Center, but both locations are deemed “attractive” enough for a “romantic” tête-à-tête.

Service and food were incredible. Only gave them one star because their hostess (very tall girl) was petting a dog that the restaurant allowed into the seating area (disgusting and how about consideration for your patrons with allergies). She then proceeded to touch utensils, menus, pepper mills etc. without washing her hands. Not that washing her hands would have made it better because she shouldn’t be touching an animal and serving people. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough. If those are the sanitary habits they have in front of customers, what’s going on behind the scenes.

This was a fabulous find. We were looking for a restaurant before a play at the Armory. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Had the steak tartare with the best presentation. (The photo may not do it justice. After that the mussels and frites and my companion had the Nicois salad. All of it was perfect.

I am delighted to review this place. I have been frequenting Cognac for brunch the past 3 Sundays and have decided to come back as often as possible. This place is superb for it's food, as well as it's service. They treat you like you are the only customer they have (the place is always full.) I have had the Salmon, Scallops, omelette and cheese puffs. Let's say that the hearty cuisine is so amazingly tasty, I have formed a bias about French food. I am beginning to believe it is the best food in the world, if done right. At Cognac, you can't go wrong. Every single dish is carefully prepared to bring out the produce and meats organic flavors. You will savor each bite. Bon appetit!
