Curio
Lively spot for West Coast-style seafood
American · French Quarter · $$$
Chef Hayley Vanvleet (Peche, Cochon Butcher) helms this French Quarter bistro, where California-style seafood meets Creole tradition in dishes like steamed coconut-ginger mussels and coriander-spiced blackened redfish, plus wine and cocktails. Originally a 19th-century curio shop, the space channels its eclectic past with colorful artwork, mustard-hued banquettes, black and white floor tiles and a scenic wraparound deck.

Hip and elegant, this is the place you want to go back to. Perfect, informed service raised the expectation and the food did not disappoint. everyone at our table commented that theirs was the best of whatever they ordered that they had ever had. Now when can you say that? Simply outstanding. The craft cocktails we enjoyed were unique and wonderful.

Food and service was amazing!! Kevchelle did an amazing job as our server. Many options for different tastes so everyone can be happy. Prices weren’t crazy expensive either for being located in the quarter. I’d come back!

My brother and I had dinner there tonight. The bar area was crowded, but they have a second floor and a balcony overlooking Royal street- great addition! We had a bottle of wine( not a big selection though) shared the charcuterie kind of plate and each had a fish main course- he had the gulf fish with rice which was delicious and I had the red fish which was a little too seasoned and we did not really like. The service was attentive, but very casual (“are we ready to order “ “ do we like everything “) and the staff need to be trained how to do proper wine service. We had a few managers checking on us during the night which was great and seems like they really care about the customers satisfaction and opinion( as every new establishment should). The location of the place is great and considering the area I hope they aim to be fine dining place as their prices are reaching this range. I am trying not to judge to hard and will give the place a second chance hopefully they will only get better not worse.
