The Zagat Review
"Be hungry" before sitting down at this "unpretentious" Southern fixture in Chinatown’s Reading Terminal Market, known for "ample amounts" of "reliable" cooking at "reasonable prices" and "friendly folks" slinging it; though some dismiss it as a "tourist thing" , diehards insist "this is where Philly has breakfast."

Had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and collard greens. The greens had an interesting flavor, not bad, but not very good. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and served without gravy. The server brought me some gravy after I asked if they had any, it was just ok. They served three pieces of the chicken, breast, thigh & leg. The chicken was crispy and the meat moist, it could of used more flavor in the batter. Not bad for the price, but I've definitely had better. I probably won't be back for their chicken again, but I may try their breakfast items.

Shocking little place. Went in for a quick bite. It was delicious. Had a pulled pork sandwich made for me as they don't sell it. They just gave me a roll. It is very very good. Fries were a bit mashed and afew were not cooked but all in all the meal was excellent. Staff was busy if not attentive. Small place in the rear of the market place. I will come back no doubt. If you're in the area check it out to see if they are busy. It's very affordable for a city place and quick.
