Dunbar's Famous Creole Cuisine
Down-home Creole eats in simple digs
Creole · Gert Town
A pre-Katrina NoLa mainstay, this Gert Town iteration maintains its original charm with its down-home Creole cooking (think po’boys, fried seafood platters, BBQ ribs) and familiar, relaxed vibe. Plenty of tables fill the simple space complete with high ceilings and yellow walls.

I am giving this place five stars for the effort they make. There is nothing spectacular about the food, the dining room feels empty and a bit too sterile. But the cake slices are huge, but taste a bit boxy. They are a bit slow. Again I hope the owner receives this message. The star is for effort. And the fact the food is edible.

We were cold and hungry. Wonderful place and food. Service was excellent. Very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Bacon, biscuit, egg, grits, all for 99 cents. Can't make it that reasonable at home. Great work Dunbars.

I asked a local for her pick of the best gumbo in the city. Without pause, she blurted out, Dunbar's. We ordered a cup of gumbo each and shared Cajun Creole and honey sweet and spicy wings. Service was prompt, staff was friendly, food was wonderful, and prices were reasonable. All in all, a great experience.
