Elegant, upscale steak & seafood pick

The Zagat Review
Some of the city’s "freshest catch" lands at this "vibrant" , "upscale" chain link in River North, serving seafood "that delivers on all levels" and "equally good" steaks in a "beautiful" "plush" space with live jazz in the cocktail lounge; an "outstanding" staff, including bartenders who "are willing to experiment" , rounds out its assets.

I am so late with this post, but I had to get this one in. My husband and I eloped on New Year's Eve and I made dinner reservations here for us. I made my reservations on line, and I also left a note explaining that we would be having our first dinner as husband and wife here. When we arrived they seated us promptly and had a beautiful table set up for us. Every one kept coming by to congratulate us on our marriage. The food was beyond words, and by the end of the meal they treated us to a congratulatory dessert. The food, the wine and the staff were simply fantastic and I will forever remember my wonderful experience at Eddie V's.

The first thing that you notice when you enter this restaurant is the beautiful decor. It is in dim light, but there is a sparkle everywhere created by glass. We were given a nice plate of bread and butter that was warm and had a very iconic design to it. Then the appetizer came of shrimp cocktail and man were they huge. Very generous with the dipping sauces that cam on the side with a beautiful presentation. It is pretty pricey, but when coming to a restaurant like this , you have to expect the appetizers to be the price of a regular restaurant's entree. Our main course was something I will forever remember. The steak and the lobster tail were the best that I've ever had, but if I were to choose one, it wpuld definitely be the lobster tail. It was just so juicy that once I put my fork into it, I could see the liquid leaking on the side. We ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese, but after trying the libster tail, I wasn't able to enjoy the mashed potatoes as well as it could have been. All in all, I would definitely come back in my next visit to Chicago.

I know how important google reviews are and that's why I still went 5 stars after a small disappointment to the start of the night. We arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 reservation and when I went up at 7:40 to see what was going on, I was told I was the 3rd 7:30 in line. My frustration lands on, please inform me at 7:20 that there will be a delay and that I should head to the bar for a drink. Instead we watch more groups of 2 (than 3) get seated before us, who came in well after us. At 7:56 we were seated and the rest of the night was great. Our server was really nice, personable and really navigated us well through the menu. His first recommendation was the lobster tacos. I read a below review that said they have no flavor. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read that wasn't a Trump tweet. It was by far one of the most flavorful items I've ever had in my life. I proceeded to love my Chilean Sea bas and the bananas foster. My smoked old fashion was incredibly well done and the evening ended completely different than it started.
