The Elite Cafe
New Orleans–style American fare
Southern American · Lower Pacific Heights · $$
After a refresh by the Sidecar Hospitality team (Pacific Cocktail Haven, Schroeder's), this Pacific Heights mainstay serves an updated menu of New Orleans–inspired fare along with wine and refined cocktails for dinner and weekend brunch. The lively interior skews classic with mahogany booths, black and white tile, a marble bar and art deco accents.

The look and feel is nostalgia at its best. Food and service casual but prompt and friendly. The Meyer Lemon Ice Box Cake was a fitting end to the Fried Chicken Dinner. Oysters were fresh and cold the way they should be. Grits and Collard Greens top notch. No Fifth Star:Being Picky cause one piece of the Fried Chicken was slightly Dry. I plan to go back many times. BTW the other Two Pieces were perfect.👌

The first thing that came to my attention is the atmosphere. Came here for brunch and had a great time. The second thing was the service. The server was polite, inviting, helpful, and even the owner or manager swung by to see how we were doing. Lastly, the food was delicious. The biscuits were so perfectly done, I wish we could have ordered a dozen to go.

We had a 7:45pm reservation for 2, but weren't seating until 8:35pm - a 50 minute wait. Once we were seated, it took the waitress 15 more minutes to acknowledge that we had sat down. She did not bring us water and did not ask what drinks we wanted until almost 45 minutes later. What started as a great date night ended up being an endless wait for food and drink. Would NOT recommend this cafe to anyone.
