A cast of “rotating nonnas” in the kitchen “lovingly” prepare “fabulous” regional Italian specialties at this “convivial” , cash-only Staten Island enoteca where a “strong selection” of affordable wines and “blasting rock 'n' roll” contribute to the “warm, appealing” atmosphere; though “seating is tight” , supporters swear the food is “worth any discomfort.”

Right off the bat, when you hear that there's a restaurant where the chefs are grandmas, you're sold. Right? You're like, that's genius, I want to go there. I need to go there. This can't lose. One thing you should know about this place is that it's small. There aren't many tables. Make reservations, don't waste your time by driving out there to find out they're booked solid. Show the grandmas a little respect, all you have to do is call ahead and tell her you're coming and she'll be more than happy to feed you. Grandma cooks for everybody. She also doesn't like to waste. There is tremendous variety in cuts of meat on the menu. Don't take my word for it, check out their menu and see for yourself. And if meat's not your thing you can have it that way too but I'm not gonna pretend I understand. Meat is my favorite meat. I digress. You don't need to be talked into this. You heard "restaurant run by grandmas" and that's anyone had to say.

My husband and I came here for the first time last Friday. The restaurant is quite small but I believe that's what makes it intimate. The waitresses were very helpful at providing us with suggestions regarding what to pick from the menu. It was a Tokyo night and we ended up ordering almost everything from that menu. The food was well prepared and tasted very fresh. Sesame cheesecake was really delicious. Overall we loved the experience and are looking forward to coming back to experience other cuisines. It would have been nice if the restaurant were not "Cash Only" since these days less and less people carry cash. Nevertheless, highly recommend this place!
