A "hip crowd" creates a "buzzy" vibe at this Downtown New American, "one of the hottest tickets in town" whose "adventurous" , "flavor-packed" shared plates, "exquisite cocktails" poured by "talented" bartenders (yes, "you can smoke absinthe!" ) and "sumptuous" vintage decor are all "high" on the "wow factor" ; if you've got the "expense account" for such "understated coolness" , it's a "new standard bearer."

It is a beautiful, hip and trendy restaurant. I ordered off the "Dine in LA" menu, which included two courses and a cookie tray. I chose the Korean deviled eggs and trout. The deviled eggs (two) had a kick to it after a couple seconds. The trout was served, laying on top of quinoa and sauce. The cookie tray had four different types of mini cookies. It was more of a sampler tray. It was all very nice. I enjoyed sitting in the booth they seated us in, since we made reservations. My girlfriend's ravioli was a little dry and rubbery, so she had to send it back, but they did redo her meal. Much better the second time. The staff are all nice and friendly, but my coffee mug was refilled only when I asked. There is public parking next door, but because the valet is stationed right there, I chose to valet my car.

This is a really cool restaurant, close to the South Figueroa action but just far enough off the main drag to retain intimacy. The menu is contemporary urbane, with great options across the portion size spectrum. Bartending is on point and includes several fun house specialties. The decor also pleases, with little touches like hiding dinner menus inside books you can keep and read. Private rooms are available if you've got business to transact or clientele to impress. The staff, and the food, have been great every time I and my friends dined there.

Pretty let down by this place. The food is way more than it is worth. If you're going with your company or on someone else's bill than it's a good idea but otherwise not worth it. The service is also not super great. The bar was not busy and yet made pretty bad drinks. I never send drinks back but we could not even take a second drink. Probably just that one day though. I love the location and decorations. Also if you are a beer drinker there isn't much of a beer selection.
