It's “like visiting the Italian family you never grew up in” at this “affordable” , "casual" local chain slinging “enormous” helpings of “traditional” fare and "excellent pizzas" full of "cheesy, cheesy goodness" ; the original Little Italy outpost is a local “treasure" , with an on-site market and "festive" atmosphere of red-and-white checkered tablecloths and "old Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling."

I grew up in old CV and this place is definitely as good as it's always been. Hadn't been for years, but while visiting home decided to take the family for lunch. Not disappointed! While the other competing longtime pizzeria in town has declined (in quality), this original is still delicious.

Literally the best Italian food in San Diego! I've been eating here since i was a child My dad even longer. It is a tradition in our family when we visit. I had the lasagna. Layers of perfection. Just perfect amount of ricotta cheese. It stacks high and stays together. The sauce has got that harmonious blend of acidity and sweetness. The meat is non intrusive but present. The portion is filling but i always want another slice.

Pizza is awful. That plastic "cheese" like product didn't cut it. Pasta sauce was good. House wine good. Server was nice but brought the manager back who made a scene in a crowded dining room then prorated a refund. Won't be back.
