Five and Dime Ale House
American plates, local beer & cocktails
American · Hampden · $$
Set in the former G.C. Murphy's five-and-dime store, this Hampden American from Justin Dvorkin and Donald Kelly (Oliver Brewing, Pratt Street Ale House, The Alehouse Columbia) dishes up pizza, sandwiches, burgers and grilled plates, plus brunch, paired with 40 local beers on tap (15 of which are Oliver Brewing classics). Exposed-brick walls, tufted leather booths and modern lighting complete the cool, relaxed atmosphere.

Great bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary's and Bellini's until 3pm on the weekends. Customer service is awesome. My favorite server is Eric. Very pleasant, patient and informative. I love the menu options, from breakfast, toasted Brussels to a hefty serving of wings to the Korean Bbq beef tacos. I love the atmosphere and many beer options exclusive to Five and Dime. The only arguable con is parking in the area on Sunday can be difficult. But this doesn't discourage my visit. I know to wear sneakers or flats for the walk.

This is a young persons happy hour spot 21-29! I'm 37 The happy hour our drinks are reasonably priced. I had old Bay wings which were cooked a little too hard and decent french fries. If you ask me they need to go ahead and invest in blue cheese and ranch from a restaurant supplier or super market because theirs is terrible and you can tell they make it in house. The music needs to be a tad bit louder and they need more of a variety.

Food is always, always spot-on and amazing - Thai Shrimp and Crispy Brussel Sprouts are my favorites. Staff is friendly and attentive. Only complaint I have is sometimes it's super cold or super hot in there - I'm assuming partially do to the layout of the place. However, they've always accommodated us whenever we've asked for it to be adjusted if possible.
